“Effetto Venezia hosts the presentation of the film about Daniel Schinasi, “The Exodus of an Italian Jew from Alexandria,” by Rotterdam-based director and documentary filmmaker Ulrike Hahn, tomorrow, Sunday, August 8. “In life, we should not hesitate to do what we love,” artist Daniel Schinasi tells us. He truly followed his own principle: he became a devoted and renowned painter and sculptor. In this film, he recounts his extraordinary artistic life in motion. From his experience of the 1956 Suez Crisis in Egypt, during which he was forced to leave his native country for Italy, the homeland of his ancestors; to the moment he founded the Neofuturism movement—an anti-war movement for peace and reconciliation; to the final years of his artistic work in Tuscany and Nice. Without ever losing sight of what he loved to do: creating art and advocating for positive social change.
